At the grand old age of 9 years Adrian started to play with a Local Music Piano School. Adrian is considered as a ‘National Treasure’ to the Music Industry in Australia. Adrian Opted for the “Shefte Method” rather than Classical. Luckily the teacher played in dance bands and was a fan of Fats Waller and the Shefte method who taught stride piano left hand. Began to play again when about 18 Years Old, after hearing the Paramount Jazz Band and realising it was fun. He started off with Ragtime playing and performing many of the late, great, Jelly Roll Morton numbers then went on to Fats Waller and the other stride master (James P. Johnson etc), performing boogie/blues. Adrian worked with many bands around Sydney’s bars e.g Olympia Jazz Band, Graeme Bell All Stars and was three years with the Yarra Yarra Jazz Band from Melbourne. Adrian also enjoyed playing Gershwin, Warren, Berlin.. He also toured and performed at many of the top Jazz Festivals throughout the World. He as also involved with side trips to the USA and Canada. Adrian was offered many top Jazz Jobs, in Paris, London etc. He was asked if he would be keen to join up with the late great band Leader and Legend in the UK Ken Colyer but decided the bottom half of the globe offered a far better way of life. Adrian has written many compositions over the years won many top prizes for Original works. Many of his originals are highly regarded overseas by jazz Players and also many world Composers of Ragtime for Jazz Piano Pieces and Ballads. Two Original Works of Adrian’s are now featured on Jeff Bradley’s CD called Sunset (Hush A Bye, Deceptive Moon . Adrian also enjoys playing, when asked, Trombone and Clarinet.
