To find out more about this years 2010 event on the 3rd Aprill, visit our event page HERE. 2009 Bull Riding Event Revisited Other locals Dene Hill and Duncan Wright also rode Second Division bulls, but with a little more experience behind them, both gained scores, Duncan winning a third place cheque.
Perhaps the local heroes of the day were, Jason Usmar, Mike Geen, and Carl Roberts who rode for the Local Business Charity Bull Ride. Jason rode for Hanmer Holiday Homes and the Westpac Helicopter. Mike rode for Hanmer Hot Springs Hotel and Playcentre, while Carl rode for Hanmer Events and the Rams Golden Oldies Rugby Team. None of these brave soles had ever ridden a bull before, so as you might expect, there were nerves a plenty. The Bulls must have had a few as well, as two of them refused to be ridden by Carl and lay down in protest. Eventually all three came off second best, no one actually reaching the 8 seconds before hitting the dust, however, on a count back, Carl Roberts time won him and his charity the sponsors donations. Congratulations.
Congratulations also to Geoff Hill Cobbles and Landscape, and Nathan and Jacqui Eggleton, who sponsorships backed the winning two riders in the First Division. They receive a $150 voucher from the main sponsor, Montieths Brewery Bar.
