Krank Dirtwear Duathlon Race BriefThe Krank Dirtwear Women’s Adventure Duathlon couldn’t have asked for better weather conditions on Saturday, and two local women took full advantage of the conditions to take line owners.

World Junior Champion Duathlete, Tessa Walker, from Culverden blitzed the short course winning the 5km run and 12km mountain bike ride, in just under 58 minutes. Not to be outdone, local Duathlete and major sponsor Katy Ellis, bettered her second position from 2008, in the 10km run and 25km mountain bike race, in just over two hours, narrowly beating second place getter, Christine Wright, by 35 seconds.

The Men’s competitors on Sunday were not as fortunate with the weather, and as predicted by Katy Ellis, it rained heavily, and the temperature dropped considerably. However 30 brave souls ran and mountain biked on two courses, with locals Graeme Abbot and Mark Skillings winning their courses.

Feedback from competitors on both days was very positive. The events are well planned, in that they cater for both beginners and experienced athletes. Everyone was challenged, but all the courses were achievable. Race Director Graham Frith was positive about the results of this first Men’s event, stating that the word would get out there and next year we would see many more competitors. He passed on his thanks to all the race sponsors, including Krank Dirtwear, Peak Fuel and Chain Reaction. A portion of all entry fees have been sent to the Pink Ribbon Appeal.

Your current web browser must be updated to version 7 of Internet Explorer (IE7) to take advantage of all of template's capabilities.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
