The Koru Tree and Hanmer Events invite applications from individuals, bands and groups interested in competing in The Koru Tree Emerging Talent Competition being held on Friday 24th February 2012 in association with the Hanmer Springs RockGas Jazz and Blues Festival.
This competition provides an ideal opportunity for up-and-coming musical talent to gain valuable performance experience and raise their profile. The competition will take place in the idyllic setting of Hanmer’s thermal pools complex.
The format of the competition includes a first round in which entrants will perform a set of between five and eight minutes. Judges will select acts to go through to a final round where acts will perform a different set. The winning act will be awarded the $1800 Koru Tree Emerging Talent Scholarship. Additional prizes will be awarded for second place ($500) and third place ($200). There will be an entry fee of $50 per act.
The winner of the Koru Tree Emerging Talent Scholarship will also be given the opportunity to perform a 30 minute set at the Festival’s Saturday night concert.
