Both courses follow the same route, the only difference being that the long course involves a second lap! The race starts with a gradual climb up McIntyre Road before joining Mach 1 for a descent back towards Black Dog, around the race village at Hanmer Springs Forest Camp and then back to McIntyre Road. After this initial short lap to space the riders out, the course joins Base Camp, Western Link, Swamp and then starts climbing steadily up Yankee Zephyr before eventually joining the newly created Tombstone track. After a gradual climb with some 25 switchbacks you will reach the highest point of the course (698m). Please not this is an advanced track which includes some technical downhill sections. After a thrilling descent on the Tombstone track, the course then climbs up Big Foot via a series of switchbacks followed by a flowy descent before joining Detox, Mach 1, Black Dog and towards the finish line at Hanmer Springs Forest Camp.
