The Hanmer Holiday Homes Alpine Marathon , Half Marathon and 10km races run from Lake Tennyson, high in the alpine environment of the St James and Molesworth Stations. Following the Clarence River along quiet gravel roads and crossing Jacks Pass before descending to the village of Hanmer Springs. This is a unique race through stunning scenery.
The Marathon starts at Lake Tennyson (elevation of 1087m), undulating route on mostly gravel surface. Major uphill climb at 33km for 3km with elevation gain of 70m followed by 6km downhill with elevation loss of 380m to finish.
Transport
A shuttle service will operate to take you to the start line. You must use these shuttles and not arrange your own transport to the start of the race due to DOC constraints. The cost of the shuttle is included in your registration. All buses depart from The Domain, please arrive 15minutes prior to your departure time. If you miss your bus you will be unable to start.

Registration
Race packs are to be collected on Friday the 3rd of December 6.30pm-8.30pm (mandatory for Marathon participants due to coach departure times) from Monteiths or from The Domain, 59 Jacks Pass Road, Saturday 4th December 6.45am - 10am. Please ensure you have collected your race pack prior to your shuttle departure.

Kit
Hanmer Springs is an alpine village and can experience a wide range of weather conditions. We recommend you consider carrying the following. Layered clothing, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, hydration pack, survival blanket, energy bar. Please do not wear headphones as this limits your ability to hear directions from marshals and hazards.
Prize giving
The Prize giving ceremony will be held at the finish line at the Hanmer Springs Sport Pavilion (The Domain) at 1.30pm or when the last competitor has crossed the finish line and the timekeeper has finalised the times. There will also be spot prizes, you must be at the prize giving to receive your certificate and or prize.

Food and beverages will be available throughout the event for purchase, there is also a child's play area at The Domain to keep the kids entertained. Hanmer Springs is a gorgeous alpine village, so bring your family and friends along and stay the weekend. You can find accommodation options here.
Due to liquor licensing Hanmer Events do not allow BYO to their events. Please do not bring dogs to the event unless they are assistance dogs or with our marshals.

Refund & Transfer Policy
Online Registrations close on the 1st of December, after this date you will need to register on Friday the 3rd of December at Montieths in Hanmer Springs. Late registrations will incur a fee of $20.00.
Changes and cancellations incur a fee of $10.00. No changes can be made to your registration after 1 November. No refunds will be given after 1 November.

Walkers are welcome in Race 1 for the Half Marathon and the 10km race. You must walk competitively. Walkers must walk, you cannot run or jog. Please respect the walkers that enter this race as a competitive race and follow the rules. If you are seen to run or jog you will be disqualified from the race. Walkers must walk to the left and allow space for runners to pass.
For all juniors completing an indemnity form will need to be completed by a parent or legal guardian.
